Details
Myofascial Release (MFR) is an approach that applies gentle, sustained pressure on the fascial (connective tissue) system. It feels like a good pain or stretch, and the release of the tension of the restricted fascia alleviates pain in problem areas.
Fascia is interconnected throughout the whole body, and so this approach is not “choreographed” in a systematic way like other massage approaches. It works on the root of the issue to have a more lasting effect than a traditional massage. MFR can be incorporated into a full body massage but is often received as an individual session designed to relieve acute or chronic symptoms, such as low back pain or neck strain. With over 140 hours of training in MFR, it is my favorite for addressing chronic issues. If you would like to receive this treatment, please do not use any lotion, oil or moisturizing soaps on the day of your appointment. In addition, please bring loose gym shorts (and ladies, a sports bra).
